ATS and Emergency Management
Emergency Communications (emcomm) is at the heart of Emergency Management. As
defined by the the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), this is part of why
Amature Radio operators are given radio spectrum bandwidth. The FCC recognized
that with the average sprinkling of Ham operators nation wide, each providing
and maintaining their own equipment, there would be the potential to stitch
together a nation wide communications network should a natural disaster occur.
